This post compares sex doll storage setups. We do not have a verified collection of readers' setups, and we will not invent photos or testimonials. What we can do is compare the common methods honestly and give you a way to plan for your own space, based on our storage guide. That guide says to store a doll cool, dry and out of sunlight, clean and fully dry, supported so the head, neck and joints are not strained, and away from dyed fabric, sharp edges and heat.

What storage has to protect

A doll in storage faces five risks.

  • Strain. The neck, shoulders and hips are the usual stress points under gravity.
  • Deformation. Soft material under pressure for weeks can take a shape.
  • Staining. Contact with dyed fabric or printed surfaces. See our post on dye transfer.
  • Temperature and light. Heat, cold and sun. See our posts on summer and winter.
  • Moisture and dust. Storing a doll damp invites odour and mould.

Plus one human risk: privacy, in a shared home.

Method 1: lying flat

How it works: the doll lies on its back or side, in a box, a bag or on a clean surface, with the head supported.

Strengths: gentlest on the joints and neck, according to our guide. Simple, cheap and stable. The original box can work if it is clean and the doll is dry.

Trade-offs: needs space of about the doll's full length. Pressure points can leave marks if the doll stays in one position for a long time, so adjust the position occasionally. A cover is needed against dust.

Best for: people with a spare bed frame, a wardrobe floor or under-bed space, and for long-term storage.

Method 2: standing

How it works: the doll stands upright on a purpose-built support or stand, sometimes against a wall.

Strengths: takes less floor area, and the doll is ready to use.

Trade-offs: puts load on the feet, legs and often the neck, depending on the support. Dolls are not all designed to stand for long periods. A weak or ill-fitting stand can let the doll fall, which is a risk to the doll and to people.

Best for: dolls with a skeleton designed for standing, and owners who have a sturdy support suited to that doll.

Method 3: hanging

How it works: the doll hangs from a hook or hanger, often by the neck or torso.

Strengths: compact, and keeps the doll off surfaces.

Trade-offs: concentrates the weight on a small area. Our guide stresses that hangers must match the doll, because a wrong hanger can strain the neck or tear the surface. Heavy dolls are poor candidates. Ask the manufacturer whether hanging is acceptable for your model.

Best for: lighter dolls and torsos, and only with a purpose-made, matching hanger.

Method 4: torsos and smaller formats

Our storage guide notes that torsos and smaller formats are easier to plan for. A torso can often go in a bag or box on a shelf or in a wardrobe. This is one reason format matters, as our post on torso or full doll explains.

Comparing the methods

  • Gentlest on the body: lying flat.
  • Smallest footprint: hanging (light dolls) or standing.
  • Lowest cost: lying flat in the original box.
  • Highest risk if done badly: hanging and standing.
  • Easiest for privacy: lying flat in a closed box or wardrobe, or a smaller format.

Planning for a small space or a shared home

  • Measure first. Know the doll's length and the clear space you have, including door and stair clearance for moving it.
  • Find a stable environment. An interior wardrobe or under a bed in a heated room usually beats a loft, garage or sunny corner.
  • Think about access. If you cannot reach the doll easily, you will not check on it. Check it every few weeks.
  • Plan the lift. Storing a doll somewhere high or awkward means lifting it there. Test your limit as in our post on how heavy is too heavy.
  • Plan the privacy. A lockable space, or a plain opaque box, is more reliable than a hope that nobody looks. See our post on discreet packaging for the same logic applied to delivery.
  • Keep supplies together. Cover, powder, cloths and a repair kit in one place make routine care easier. Our accessories essentials lists a starter kit.

What to look for in a support or cover

  • Fit for your doll. Match height, weight and the skeleton design. Ask the seller or maker.
  • Stability. A stand should not tip when the doll shifts.
  • Soft contact points. Padding where the support touches the body, in a light colour.
  • A light, breathable cover that keeps dust and light off without trapping damp.
  • No dyed or printed surfaces touching the doll.

Before you put it away

1. Clean it. See our cleaning guide. 2. Dry it completely, including creases and joints. 3. Apply a light dusting of suitable powder if your material calls for it, only when dry. See our post on choosing powder. 4. Position the head, neck and limbs naturally. 5. Cover it and place it in a stable spot. 6. Note the date, and check it in a few weeks.

Where to find storage items

Our reviews of TPE Doll, Silicon Wives and Joy Love Dolls mention accessories as part of what each retailer offers. If you want to browse bags, covers and supports alongside dolls, the Joy Love Dolls catalogue is one place to look; ask the seller whether a given support fits your doll. That is an affiliate link: we may earn a commission if you buy through it, at no extra cost to you, and it does not mean any product is suitable for your model.

Summary

Lying flat is the gentlest, standing and hanging need a matching support, and torsos are easiest of all. Whatever you choose, store the doll clean, dry, out of sun and away from dyed fabric, and check it now and then.
