Sanity checks

Compare the weight with similar dolls of the same height and material. Very low weight at a large height suggests an estimate or hollow construction. Check that proportions are plausible for an adult body (policy).

Unit conversions

Check both kg and lb, and cm and ft/in. Use the height chart for conversions.

Ask the seller

  • Does the weight include the head and wig?
  • Is height measured standing or lying?
  • Is the skeleton metal throughout?
  • Packed weight and box dimensions?
  • Breast type, solid or hollow?

Worked example

Two listings show 160 cm dolls: one lists 32 kg, the other 22 kg. Ask what each includes. The lighter one may be a hollow-breast or lighter-skeleton build, may exclude the head, or may list an estimated weight. Neither number tells you comfort; both tell you how hard it is to lift (lifting guide).

Fields people overlook

  • Packed weight and box size, for delivery and storage
  • Material of head versus body
  • Whether breasts and buttocks are solid or hollow (breast options)
  • Hand and foot articulation
  • Standing feature, if any
  • Included accessories

Red flags

Missing weight, copy-pasted specifications that do not match the photos, or measurements that give an implausible build (price red flags).

Making a comparison sheet

Put two or three candidates side by side with the same fields. Fill gaps by asking sellers, and compare delivered totals.
